The third Wittelsbach who left his mark within the Neighborhood was Louis I, king of Bavaria from 1825 to 1848. Louis planned and developed present day Munich, and his architects recognized the town’s characteristic physical appearance in the public buildings they created. The 19th century was Munich’s best period of growth and development.
